The HT16514 display modes are 16 characters by 2 lines, 20 characters by 2 lines or 24 characters by 2 lines. Additionally an external driver device can increase the number to 40 characters by 2 lines.

What kind of external communication channel interface exists for the HT16514?
Answer
The HT16514 supports a parallel data output and serial data output. For the parallel data transfer it supports the Motorola 68 series 4-bit or 8-bit and Intel 80 series. For the serial data output transfer the device uses the four pins
CLK, CS, DI and DO.
