New 8-bit I/O Microcontroller HT48R70A-1
July 26, 2001
Having an internal 8K internal OTP program memory and supplied in both 48 pin SSOP and 64 pin QFP packages, the
HT48R70A-1 is a newly released I/O type microcontroller from
Holtek. In addition to being fully pin and functionally compatible with the device it supersedes, the HT48C70, this new device offers higher levels of noise immunity, higher working frequency, increased pull-high options, higher number of stack levels, a low voltage reset function or
LVR, fully programmable frequency divider or PFD, a buzzer/carrier drive output and multi function pins, functions which together combine to greatly increase the application possibilities of the device over the one it replaces.
The HT48R70A-1
also contains an internal real time clock, which when used in conjunction with an external 32768Hz crystal oscillator, enables the system, when in the power-down mode, to maintain its timer function and provide wake up operation. This new function overcomes the deficiency of the superseded microcontroller which stopped all timer functions when in power down mode.
When considering the overall functions of the
HT48R70A-1, in addition to taking into account the needs for existing users to easily upgrade their products, the new device offers a far superior range of range of new functions over the previous device, the flexibility of which will significantly ease the design process and increase application possibilities.
